Going to Visit

Image
3/30/2018 I left Waco this morning heading to Arlington, Texas for a visit with Cliff Taylor, a longtime friend. It was an uneventful drive. I then settled into my space at the Treetops RV Resort a nice park in central Arlington Texas. This resort has many large oak trees throughout with a very welcoming staff. Later, I drove over for dinner with Cliff and his wife Ginger where we consumed our food and the past at an Italian restaurant. After dinner, we returned to their home where we talked for several hours before I returned to my mobile residence. 3/31/2018 I woke up late this morning then proceeded to meet with a former Columbia, Missouri IBM colleague, Andrew Brant. I met Andrew for lunch at Joe T. Garcia’s restaurant, a Fort Worth institution. After an extended wait, we were seated within the restaurant’s beautiful outdoor patio. The wait was lessened by the margaritas that were consumed queued up on line. Actually, the food was mediocre but the ambiance and the c

3/27/2018 There was quite a storm last night at Lake Brownwood with strong winds, lightening and heavy rain. It was pretty exciting. It was still raining in the morning  as I got the trailer ready to travel. I traveled to Waco, Texas with the rain following me all of the way and raining in Waco upon my arrival. I procured a space for three nights at the Midway Park Campgrounds ( $24 per night ) which is a Corps of Engineers campground on Lake Waco . It's a very nice campground with lots of trees, a short walk to the lake, plus it is very close to town. Oops, I forgot that I have The America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Senior Pass which provides a 50% discount on the camping fees. I called Recreation.gov where I originally made the reservation and received credit for $36; now the three days will cost $36 instead of $72. Also, the couple I met at Lake Brownwood, the wife being from Palmdale, are here in this campground. 3/28/20

3/23/2018 I left the Bottomless Lake State Park around noon and headed for Texas. I had anticipated getting to Abilene but decided I would arrive there too late to find a camp site and set up before it got dark. I resolved on Lamesa, Texas where their City Park has RV parking. The City RV Parking is free and includes power and water for the first 4 days and $20.00 per day after that period. Lemesa City Park I had dinner at K-Bobs Steak House which left a lot to be desired. If I stay another night I will cook a steak on the grills available to the RV campers in this park.  3/24/2018 Continued my stay in Lamesa, Texas at the City RV parking area. I went food shopping at Claiborne's Thriftway  where I purchased a ribeye steak. Later, I will throw it on the grill provided (free) in the RV parking area. It's a nice warm day here which is nice after all of the cold weather I had in the mountains. I spent most of the day cleaning up this BLOG adding pictures and
